VU Polytechnic wins inclusive training award

07 September 2019

Victoria University Polytechnic picked up the Inclusive Training Provider of the Year Award at the 65th Anniversary of the Victorian Training Awards on Friday night.

The award recognises exceptional training providers within the Victorian Government’s vocational education and training system who have demonstrated outstanding improvements in the achievement, engagement and well-being of students with additional needs.

The TAFE Director’s Australia newsletter that was issued today noted that:

‘VU’s catchment includes areas of extreme disadvantage with associated chronic mental and physical health issues, yet students are supported in programs that encourage independence and skills development’.

This award shows we are living our mission to provide quality educational opportunities to all students from all backgrounds, providing them with the skills they need to succeed. It also demonstrates our collective efforts as an organisation in creating an accessible, safe and inclusive environment.

This significant achievement is the result of the amazing work undertaken by individuals, committees and working groups across VU, that work hard to ensure that inclusiveness is ingrained in The VU Way.
