Student showcase with Gold 104.3

30 September 2019

On 22 September, VU Polytechnic Certificate IV in Fitness (SIS40215) and Diploma of Remedial Massage (HLT52015) students were a part of the Christian O’Connell Breakfast show for the ‘Gran Final’ event at Whitten Oval. This event hosted a longest kick competition where people could enter their grandmothers to see who could kick the furthest and take home bragging rights, as well as a $1000 prize.

Our fitness students, Liam and Bridget, were present to help all 32 of the Grans prepare and reduce the risk of soft tissue injury prior to their big event. The conditions were fresh, with strong winds and slippery surfaces as the backdrop for students to accommodate for 32 clients, consisting of women they had never met and whose needs and capabilities differed.

Liam and Bridget designed and delivered an outstanding 20-minute warm-up incorporating techniques and practices gained from their Certificate III and IV in Fitness courses. In addition, five of our remedial massage students provided massage services for participants and the audience. The event was a huge success with no injuries sustained by any of the 32 participants.

The students had an awesome time at this great opportunity to work with Gold 104. Christian O’Connell noted he was thankful for the support towards his show and extremely pleased by the work of our students.
