The VU English teams have successfully transitioned to remote learning.
The VU English offshore team have been teaching remotely since February to English students from Henan, Liaoning and CUFE Universities in China. A team of educators based in their home countries around the globe including Australia, England, New Zealand, Canada and the Philippines have taught English into the homes of 2,000 Chinese partner university students.
This has facilitated some very innovative practice, for example, English students from Henan University invited a Wiruungga Elder into their WeChat group forum. Students prepared questions and then wrote a report about their experience. This would not have been able to occur if teaching had been face-to-face in China.
The VU English onshore team have also had a positive start to distance teaching, transitioning to online delivery within one week. Select students even participated in the remote program all the way from Japan. VU English students have responded postively, and teachers are excitred about the future possibilities that online learning will create.
