Propelling towards a renewable future

VU Polytechnic’s electrotechnology team hosted an industry evening, organised by senior educator, Chelsea Hart, on Wednesday 7 September at Sunshine Campus – the first on-campus industry event for electrotechnology since the end of the COVID-19 lockdowns. It was attended by over 50 industry representatives, students and teachers.

“It was lovely to see everyone face-to-face after the lockdowns and the Polytechnic hosted a great event at the Sunshine Skills Hub,” said Jo Cave, General Manager of Engineering, Electrical and Technology.

“Our connections with industry are at the core of everything we do and we look forward to hosting many more events.”

VU Polytechnic staff and students hosted representatives from industry from Energy Safe Victoria, National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and NHP. The evening covered topics such as changes in the renewable energy market, updates to electrical regulations and an overview of electric vehicles.

A student award was also presented to Certificate III in Electrotechnology apprentice, Boris Sylvia, for his great work ethic and positive attitude in the classroom  a great role model for other students.
