Free infection control training

VU Polytechnic is offering free, short, nationally-accredited training to help customer-facing workers identify and manage the ongoing risk of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections.

Learn essential skills and knowledge to decrease the risk and transmission of infection while undertaking your daily duties, with the Infection Control Skill Sets.

The short courses cover:

  • hand hygiene practices
  • effective surface cleaning
  • use of personal protective equipment
  • disposal of contaminated waste
  • hazard identification, control and reporting
  • appropriate protocols and responses in the event of an incident
  • the basis of infection and transmission.

These courses are open to individuals currently employed (paid or voluntary) in Victoria in a customer-facing role.

Infection Control Skill Set – HLTSS00064

The Infection Control Skill Set course is suitable if you are engaged in direct customer interactions in the aged care and disability sector.

Infection Control Skill Set (Retail) – HLTSS00065

The Infection Control Skill Set (Retail) course is suitable if you are engaged in direct customer interactions across the retail sector, including retail outlets, markets or supermarkets.

Infection Control Skill Set (Food Handling) – HLTSS00066

The Infection Control Skill Set (Food Handling) course is suitable if you are engaged in direct customer interactions in the food-handling sector, including cafes, restaurants, pubs, clubs or hotels.

Infection Control Skill Set (Transport and Logistics) – HLTSS00067

The Infection Control Skill Set (Transport and Logistics) course is suitable if you are engaged in direct customer interactions in the transport and logistics sector, including distribution centres, and parcel and food delivery services.
