Excellence in cyber security learning & teaching

20 November 2020

Congratulations to VU Polytechnic's cyber security team for their Victoria University Vice-Chancellor Award in Excellence in Learning and Teaching (Vocational Education and Training)!

VU Polytechnic’s cyber security team successfully transitioned to remote delivery with innovative adjustments made for their high-quality blended learning to fully online.

Partnering with Fifth Domain, the cyber security team implemented a Virtual SOC with the same learning capabilities as the physical environment, enabling students to continue completing their red and blue exercises, pen testing and industry projects. In order to successfully update and deliver virtual assessments, the team coordinated regular meetings to review, prepare and deliver an updated syllabus.

The Polytechnic cyber security programs are known for their effective partnership with industry and for maintaining high standards in course delivery. During this COVID time, industry connectedness continued with regular virtual industry panels which included leading cyber experts from Melbourne Water, The Reece Group, and Method IT Recruitment.

VU Polytechnic cyber security team: Barti Murugesan, John Burgess, Petru Tiglar, Tim Brown, Shane M., Ian Browne, Nimmi Purayil, Sandeep Karun, Damian Murphy, Wasif Bhatti and the late Phil Ware.

Note: As of 2021, the blended learning model is now known as the interactive e-learning model.
