Carnivale 2019

19 November 2019

On 18 November 2019, Victoria University Polytechnic hosted the annual Carnivale at Williamstown Town Hall to celebrate the spectacular works of our hair, makeup, beauty and massage students.

Students displayed their projects recreating icons which included the likes of Lara Croft, Hades, Artemis, Aphrodite and Cruella De Vil by utilising their skills in specialised stage makeup, industry hair styling and beauty.

The gallery of costumes and designs were accompanied with theatrical performances with students showcasing 100 years of Vogue Fashion in an energetic fashion show. From the roaring ‘20s to the ‘70s disco era, students displayed a range of creativity and skill in developing the performances and unique fashion trends.

Our Certificate III in Barbering (SHB30516) students showcased their own skills and talent in a Cyberpunk themed fashion show, with dystopian and futuristic costumes to accompany the unique and distinctive hairstyles.

Our guest speaker 2019 Australian Hairdresser of the year, Dee Parker Attwood, shared her motivations and aspirations of being within the beauty industry and presented awards to the stand-out students of the year.

The night brought about amazing talent and work from all of our hair, makeup, beauty and massage students. VU Polytechnic would like to congratulate the students on all their hard work and efforts in presenting outstanding pieces and showcasing the importance of hands-on learning and opportunities in vocational education.

Thank you to Chancellor George Pappas and members of the Senior Executive Group for attending and showing their support to our students.

A big thank you to our sponsors HairCare Australia, Algologie Australia and Fleur De Mer Cosmeceuticals, as well as Dee Parker Attwood for her time and support with the 2019 Carnivale.
